We now turn our attention to western Oklahoma, to the small town of Harvest. Something catches my senses… a storm is rolling in. An intruder approaches. Something important is about to happen. Let’s hold here for a moment and see what transpires…

We are thrilled to officially announce The Haunting of Joni Evers (releasing later this year, wishlist on Steam now), an emotional tale of estranged family underscored by a malevolent interdimensional haunting.

The Haunting of Joni Evers is a psychologically thrilling adventure-strollplayer inspired by games like Gone Home and What Remains of Edith Finch. Play as Joni Evers, a self-reliant loner estranged from her family. Much of the massive Cunningham House, where she lives alone, stands forgotten and forsaken. After an unexpected fight with a close friend, Joni comes home one night unprepared for the mystical snare that awaits her. She must face her past to secure her future. But can she do it in time?

Face the past

Via her mother’s side, Joni is a descendant of one of the oldest families still living in Harvest. She lives alone in the Cunningham House: a home that’s been in her family for generations. It wasn’t always like this. She grew up with her father, sister, and grandmother living in the house. That was, until they left. Escaping the specters of one's past is not as trivial as Joni may wish, and tonight she must face her past to secure her future.

Break the curse

A mystical storm has beset Harvest with the Cunningham House in its eye, and with it a curse – a haunting – has taken hold. You'll have to contend with the strange happenings and fraying memories to unravel the mystery of what's haunting Joni. Only then can you fend off the storm.

To do so, you must venture into the forgotten corners of the house, long-since sealed away. Here, you'll encounter dust-covered memories which you'll confront, examine, and reexamine as you uncover the lost connections between family members, using their vestiges to counter a malicious force.

"You (we) can’t do this alone"

Getting our game in front of players is one of the hardest parts of indie game development. The Haunting of Joni Evers will be releasing later this year, but to get there we need as many eyes on it as possible. Please wishlist the game on Steam (wishlisting is free!), invite your friends to do the same (easy link: steam.hauntingjoni.com), and help spread the news far and wide (we'll be posting about it on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram all day and into the weekend); these first few days are vital to Steam's algorithm!

We're excited to share more over the coming months, especially as we get closer to release. Thank you for traveling with us!
