Magic is magic. Regardless of what people say, magic is not some science we don’t understand (that, of course, is still science). It does not have rules or laws in the traditional sense. What makes magic Magic is its inherent mutability.

Think of it like this: Magic is a language. As an outside observer, a language is impossible to discern without some kind of guide, some kind of rosetta stone. Magic is a language, except with no such key. Patterns may be discernible, and certain “rules” may emerge, but the point of Magic (and I daresay its beauty) is that it will never fully be understood — and it is always subject to change.
