Magic is intrinsically tied to consciousness. Not our consciousness, per se, but consciousness in a capital “C” sense. It’s difficult to explain, but that very trait is what makes it magic.
In Science there are observable rules, truths about our universe that can be gleaned through testing, cross-referencing, and repetition. These truths may not be capital “T” truths, but they are reliable stepping stones along the way.
Yet what is consciousness? We can describe what we think it is, what we believe it is, what we hope it is — yet we cannot say, with absolute certainty, from whence it comes or how it operates. It should be no surprise, then, that the nature of Magic is so closely bound.
