The Grave-Keeper weaves in and out of a dense crowd. They like it here, in what the locals call an “Expo Hall” — they don’t have to obscure their face here…wait, this all feels familiar. Déjà vu they believe it is called.
“Hi there!” A friendly voice catches their attention. “Would you like to play the demo for an exciting new dark, supernatural detective game coming out next year? It’s called The Final Cut of Lilith Cunningham.”
“Oh. Joni’s mom?” The Grave-Keeper asks without skipping a beat.
“Y-yes.” The attendant says. “You played the first game?”
“I did. It got a few details wrong, but that’s to be expected.”
The attendant, caught in the thick awkwardness of the moment, pushes through. “Would you like to play?”
“Okay.”
Five minutes into the demo, the Grave-Keeper says, “I know her, you know.”
The attendant is caught off guard. “I’m sorry?”
“I know Lilith.”
“Um…that’s nice.”
They play for a bit longer. “I hope the story ends better for her this time.”
