The Grave-Keeper and I walked past a massive tree into a passageway tucked behind. For a while, we walked in darkness. I never felt afraid, though I also felt as though I should.
Grave-Keeper: Here we are.
They motioned about a juncture with a mid-height ceiling. Before me there were three doorways, each with a symbol carved above.
The left carving symbolized the depths of the Seas Below, where one both finds and loses their selves.
The center carving symbolized The Infinite Well, the sacred forest consciousness, inscrutable, distant yet near.
The right carving symbolized the Hall of Echoes, where souls are permitted to see reflections of their selves, though often at great peril.
Grave-Keeper: Well? Pick one.
I sat and pondered a while.
